Ready to run, paddle, pedal—or simply hit the trail? The Step Outdoors TRYathlon & 5K Trail Run/Walk returns to beautiful Hills Creek State Park on Saturday, September 19, 2026, offering a fun way to experience the outdoors during a fall getaway to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
Whether you’re competing, cheering on friends and family, or looking for another reason to spend a weekend in the PA Grand Canyon region, this event is a great addition to your itinerary!
Run, Paddle & Bike at Hills Creek State Park 🌲
The action begins at 10:00 AM at Hills Creek State Park, located about seven miles northeast of Wellsboro. Participants have several ways to join the fun.
Take on the complete TRYathlon solo, gather a team of two or three, or sign up for the standalone 5K Trail Run/Walk. The 5K takes participants along park roads and trails around Hills Creek Lake. TRYathlon participants continue with a 1.75-mile canoe or kayak course on the lake before finishing with an 8-mile bike ride along dirt and paved roads in and around the park.
Online registration is scheduled to close September 16, with race-day registration beginning at 8:30 AM. Registration is currently listed at $30 for the solo TRYathlon, $60 for a team, and $25 for the 5K Trail Run/Walk.
