Dickens of a Christmas

One of the most well-known events in Wellsboro, PA is Dickens of a Christmas! Each year on the first Saturday in December, the gas-lit Main Street and surrounding side streets are shut down to traffic and filled with vendors and local artists. In order to stick to tradition and feel like you have truly gone back in time, participants are asked to only provide hand-made items (food and product alike) and most even dress for the occasion!
Several local music groups, including the Mens’ and Womens’ Chorus Groups, join in on the fun with performances during the event. Hamilton Gibson Productions usually performs “A Christmas Carol” a couple times throughout the day, giving you plenty of opportunity to watch! Local churches will also offer luncheons for those who want to get out of the cold for a little during the festivities.
Also be sure to stop by the Peace Walk from Packer Park at 5:00p.m., which travels up Main Street to the Green for the annual community Christmas tree lighting and carol sing at 5:30.
For a full list of events, make sure to check the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce’s website!
With some vendors running out of stock quickly, make sure to book a stay as soon as possible so you can get there before you miss out!!
